Vikings Top Wildcats on Senior Night

ALPENA, MI - The Alpena Girls Volleyball team honored their six graduating Seniors on Wednesday night as they hosted the conference-leading Cadillac Vikings at the Gillespie Gymnasium.  Cadillac quickly took control of the first set with a 9-3 lead, and never let up winning the set 25-10.  Alpena fought back hard in the next two falling 25-23 and 26-24.  The Wildcats were led defensively by Senior Alexis Pilarski, who recorded 17 digs, and Eden Zann's two blocks.  On offense, the Wildcats were led by Allison Precord's 11 assists, Jade Gray's two kills, Emma Dockrill's four kills, Adrianna Gumtow's five kills.  Alpena (2-7 BNC) will travel to Traverse City West next Wednesday.

Wildcats Rally Past Blue Devils in Pink Out Game

ALPENA, MI - The Alpena Volleyball team dropped the first set but rallied to win the next three in a Big North Conference match-up with Gaylord on Wednesday night at the Gillespie Gymnasium.  The Blue Devils finished on a 16-3 run to take the first set, 25-19.  Alpena would fall behind early in the second set but took charge of the entire match by sweeping the next three 25-18, 25-19, and 25-18.  Alpena was led offensively by Allie DeRocher's 7 kills, Emma Dockrill's 6 kills, and Allison Precord's 15 assists.  Jade Grey finished with 4 kills and 3 aces for the Wildcats.  On defense, it was Alexis Pilarski's 19 digs and DeRocher's 6 blocks that helped Alpena turn the tide of the matchup.  Alpena swept the season series with Gaylord after a 3-0 sweep on September 5.  The Wildcats (2-5 BNC) host BNC co-leaders Cadillac on October 10 for Senior Night.

Wildcats Fall on the Road at TC Central

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Alpena Wildcats Volleyball team fell on the road Wednesday night at Traverse City Central.  The Wildcats won game 1, 27-25, before dropping the next three games (25-22, 25-21, and 25-12).  The Wildcats are at Tawas Area on Monday.

ALPENA, MI - The Alpena Volleyball team struggled to gain any momentum against Petoskey in a BNC match on Thursday night at the Gillespie Gymnasium.  Petoskey, who entered the game 17-2 overall, swept Alpena in three (25-19, 25-15, and 25-9).  

Wildcats Battle, Drop Home Match to Titans

ALPENA, MI - The Alpena Volleyball team battled hard against a very tough TC West team but fell 3 games to 1 in Tuesday night's BNC match.  TC West won the first set, 25-17, but saw the Wildcats rally in the second set (25-19) to tie the match at one.  Alpena fought hard but eventually lost the next two sets, 25-16 and 25-22.  Alpena will host Petoskey on Thursday night.

Wildcats Lose Epic Match with Vikings

ALPENA, MI - The Alpena Volleyball team hit the road to face a preseason Top-10 conference foe in Cadillac on Wednesday night.  The Wildcats started off strong winning Game 1 (25-19) and Game 2 (25-23).  In Game 3, the two teams fought a massive back and forth match that saw a controversial call go against Alpena.  Leading 31-30, Alpena attacker Emma Dockrill hit what appeared to be the deciding point off the finger tips of a Viking defender.  The call went against Alpena and the Vikings rallied for the 36-34 win.  Cadillac then rolled off wins in Game 4 (25-15) and Game 5 (15-7) to survive the upset.  Alpena (1-2 BNC) will host TC West and Petoskey next week.

Wildcats Sweep Blue Devils for BNC Win

GAYLORD, MI - The Alpena Volleyball team earned its first BNC victory of the season with a three-game sweep on Gaylord on Wednesday night in the Jim Mongeau Gymnasium.  The Wildcats earned wins of 25-21, 25-22, and 15-15 to finish off Gaylord.

Trojans Too Much For Wildcats in Conference Opener

ALPENA, MI - The Alpena Wildcats Volleyball team showed signs of progress but was ultimately overwhelmed by the Traverse City Central Trojans in the Big North Conference on Wednesday night at the Gillespie Gym. The Trojans took all three games (25-17, 25-15, and 25-9). Adrianna Gumtow led the Wildcats (5-1, 0-1 BNC) offensive attack with five kills, while Jade Gray and Kate Skiba each had four kills and Allison Precord had 17 assists.  Defensively Alexis Pilarski had 16 digs and Allie DeRocher had four blocks.  Alpena is at Gaylord on September 5.
